Massachusetts provides various services for migrants. Find below the links to and a short summary of some important resources the Massachusetts government or logal nonprofits provide. This is not an exhaustive list and organizations are sorted by relative size of operation.
Nonprofit and local organizations
The International Institute of New England offers case management, English (ESOL) classes, Job Training (no request form, please call to ask about the program), CNA and LNA programs, legal services for family/immigration and citizenship, and translation services in over 300 languages with over the phone assistance available 24/7.
The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition provides an immigration hotline for Massachusetts residents, links to a variety of legal services, free citizenship application help, DACA application assistance, and information on state financial aid for colleges.
The Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center can best be contacted at their offices in Boston at 253 Roxbury St and in Worcester at 18 Chestnut St Suite 310. Their website does not have service specific request forms. RIAC offers a spectrum of services including refugee resettlement services, case management, counseling, social services, post-resettlement services, healthcare assistance, and various adult and youth programming including cash assistance and youth mentorship programs. A community counseling clinic is available to those 18 and older at their Boston location and can be reached at 617-238-2430.
The Pair Project offers free legal services (note linked registration materials) to asylum seekers and detained immigrants. Their webpage (near the end of the page) also contains helpful links to Greater Boston immigration courts and Board of Appeals as well as addresses of immigrant detention centers in Massachusetts.
Rian Immigrant Center provides immigration legal services, confidential counseling and support, and sponsors the J-1 Irish Work and Travel Visa for current Irish students and recent Irish graduates.
The Mabel Center offers free legal services for asylum seekers, handing cases for Pro Se applications, employment authorization documents, special immigrant juveniles, and Violence Against Women Act cases. Their website does not offer a method to ask about their services, but their office can be found at 200 Portland St, floor 5 in Boston or at 617-417-4325.
Massachusetts Government Bodies
The Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants is the foremost government body serving refugees and immigants in the state. The office offers financial literacy programming, citizenship services including ESOL classes, employment services for refugees, and various youth mentorship programs and elder services.
